FISHING

Blackfeet Indian Reservation - Montana

Rainbow, Brown and Native Cutthroat Trout

The Blackfeet Reservation is well known for it outstanding world class still water fly fishing, with 6-8 lb, rainbows common and 10-12 lb fish always a possibility.

Often times you will be the only ones out there on the lakes and rivers, fishing in solitude for hours at a time.

THE LAKES

Fishermen on Duck Lake Montana

DUCK LAKE

Duck Lake sits high above the Saint Mary Valley over looking Glacier National Park. It is by far the most scenic lake we fish and is conveniently right out the back door of our lodge at the StoneHouse.

The fish have averaged 18-22 inches, the population is strong and the fish are eager to bite making the fishing more predictable.

Fisherman on Mission Lake - Montana

MISSION LAKE

Mission Lake is less than an hour scenic drive south of Duck Lake and has larger fish averaging 6-8 lb.

Other than Duck Lake it is one of my personal favorites.

David Walburn fishing Four Horn Lake - Montana

FOUR HORN LAKE

Four Horn Lake, on average, boasts of the biggest fish I have ever caught!  During the Spring Spawn it’s not uncommon to see 12-14 lb fish caught in this lake.

In mid to late August the hopper fishing is outstanding.

THE RIVERS

TWO MEDICINE RIVER

Two Medicine River is an outstanding cut throat and rainbow fishery, but is rarely fished because of the difficult access through  private lands or step canyon walls.

But with our knowledgeable guide, Dave, he knows where the sweet spots are and how to get to them!

On this river the trout are easy to rise to a dry fly.

OTATSO CREEK

Otatso Creek flows through a deep valley in the shadow of Chief Mountain as it makes its way from Slide Lake in Glacier Park to Kennedy Creek and then on to the St. Mary’s River.

It to is rarely fished with an excellent native cutthroat fishery.

It doesn’t get much better than spending a day catching 8-14" native cutthroat trout rising to a dry fly on a 3-4 weight rod.
